Forensic genealogists utilize the techniques of professional genealogical research and the rules of evidence to identify family lines leading to the identification of living heirs. Their work is applied across a spectrum of legal issues including intestacy, probate, elder care, conservatorship, fiduciaries, oil and mineral rights, adoption, and birth parentage.

Leslie Brinkley Lawson, Lawson Research Forensic Genealogy, will utilize case studies to demonstrate the challenges of searching for missing, misidentified, and unknown heirs.
