University of Idaho College of Law Associate Professor Stephen R. Miller will discuss how local governments throughout the West are changing their approach to fighting wildfires, a part of which includes an increased attention to land use planning and law in the wildland-urban interface (WUI). In his presentation Wildfire, Land Use Planning and Local Government, Professor Miller will also discuss his 3-year grant from the U.S. Forest Service and Idaho Department of Lands to investigate how Idaho local governments currently plan for wildfires and to publish an Idaho-specific wildfire planning guide.
