Join Sam C. Ehrlich, Ph.D., Boise State University in this presentation on an overview of developments in the law surrounding the governance in college sports, specifically as it relates to the current standing of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA)’s amateurism requirements following the Supreme Court’s 2021 decision in NCAA v. Alston. Along these lines, this presentation covers the Alston case and its aftereffects, including the NCAA’s rule changes allowing athletes to profit off of their names, images, and likenesses and pushes for courts and/or the National Labor Relations Board to find college athletes to be employees of their schools and/or the NCAA under federal wage, hour, and labor law.
